7th Round of the Student Competition Begins / Application Deadline 28th May / Two Places Awarded for the First Time

How does an F1 team best react to changes in engine regulations? How can the aerodynamic efficiency of a racing car be improved? Linking the chassis and engine competitively for the premier class of motorsport requires detailed analysis of many different areas. The Renault F1 team have been working closely with Altran since 2002.

Talented engineers from a variety of specialist fields, for example computer calculations, information technology, electronics, logistics and quality control are seconded from the innovations and technology consultancy firm. The consultants are at the Renault F1 team's disposal at both the chassis development workshop in Enstone, UK, and the engine department at Viry-Châtillon near Paris. The ING Renault F1 team values the long-standing, tried and tested cooperation it has with its equal partners Altran; this partnership is based on the wealth of experience the consultancy has within the performance-driven world of Formula One.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport starts the new season with Altran

Altran will continue to sponsor the motorsports division of BMW Motorrad in the current year. Altran has been the "Official Partner of BMW Motorrad Motorsport" since October 2009. Since that time, an Altran consultant has been providing support in the area of engine control including assistance in developing and optimising  software for the control unit's system functions as well as testing the software functions on the test bench. Development results will then be incorporated into the 'BMW Superbike' racing motorcycle.

Solar Impulse "HB-SIA" prototype aircraft takes off on its maiden flight

Following the successful completion of its first attempted take off at the beginning of December 2009, the Solar Impulse "HB-SIA" - the first aircraft that should be able to fly by day and night without fuel - successfully set off on its official maiden flight on 7 April 2010 from the town of Payerne in western Switzerlandand climbed to a height of 1,200 metres.The aim of the short flight was to check that the aircraft actually behaved in the same way as the computer simulation.

Since 2004, Altran has been committed to the Solar Impulse project as an official partner and has worked with determination and enthusiasm in close collaboration with Bertrand Piccard, André Borschberg and their teams who have been involved in this technical, technological and human adventure.

The Altran Solution Centre (ASC) has set itself the task of amalgamating the diverse project experience and expertise of Altran Technologies in Germany. The centre is organised into different Altran Solution Networks (ASN) and Altran Development Centres, which each concentrate on individual areas such as optics, development, quality and purchasing.
