  • For many tasks concerning the testing of physical properties, visual inspection is suitable only to a limited extent. Here, non-visual techniques often offer an interesting alternative.
  • Such a non-visual inspection is the micro-wave inspection.

Approach, solution

  • In the sample holder, the EM field is generated and measured by a suitable antenna. A network analyser or separate components for signal generation and measurement serve for the primary acquisition of measurement data. The signal response is evaluated by the methods of signal pattern matching and mapped to suitable "clearances".

  • The method could be successfully verified in different applications.
  • Applications were tested in the frequency range from 10MHz up to 40GHz and could also be successfully installed in systems for automatic testing.
