ConsortiaLINOver the last few years, the "Local Interconnect Network" – LIN for short – has become well established as a low-cost/low performance network protocol in the automotive sector. LIN was developed specifically for low-cost communication between intelligent sensors and actuators in motor vehicles. Typical application examples can be found in the networking of door or seat control devices and sensor systems. Currently, over 65 companies are actively involved in the ongoing development of the LIN standard, including companies such as AUDI AG, BMW AG, Daimler AG, Freescale Halbleiter Deutschland GmbH, Mentor Graphics Corporation, Volkswagen AG and the Volvo Car Corporation. The consortium is responsible for the LIN protocol specification, which describes the LIN data link layer and the physical layer, for the format of the LIN configuration file to describe the entire network as well as for the specification of the LIN API. ALTRAN Technologies has taken on the administration of the LIN Consortium. The relevant tasks include member care as well as the organisation and moderation of meetings of the steering committee and of the all members meetings. The administration is the contact point for all organisational, technical and legal issues. In addition, our team provides the IT infrastructure and maintains the internet presence. Further LIN administrator tasks include the controlling as well as parts of the accounting. For further information please go to: www.lin-subbus.org.
