Consortia

The “Local Interconnect Network” – LIN in short – is a straightforward and inexpensive data bus system established in the automotive industry. LIN was specially designed for communication between intelligent sensors, control units and actuators. The system is typically applied in control devices for doors and seats as well as to create sensor networks.

Administration

Within the boundaries of the LIN consortium numerous companies, under leadership of the core members AUDI AG, BMW AG, Daimler AG, Freescale Halbleiter Deutschland GmbH, Mentor Graphics Corporation, Volkswagen AG and Volvo Car Corporation, were involved in the development of the LIN bus system. The second operational phase of the LIN Consortium phased out at the end of 2010. The specifications set up for the LIN data bus system were transferred into an international standard and published.

Altran was in charge of the administration of the LIN consortium. This included the organisation and presentation of steering panels, providing support for members, accounting and controlling, providing the entire IT infrastructure as well as external communication and web presence.
